3rd May, 1940.
My dear Vice-Minister,
On the 19th April I left with you a
memorandum on the subject of the detention of
the British ships "Lalita", "Dholera" and "Sagres".
I should be grateful for an early reply
to this memorandum in which, as you will remember,
it was stated that the owners of the "Lalita" and
"Dholera" would be prepared to waive all claims
for compensation in respect of the former vessel,
provided that both were delivered in Singapore
before April 30th.
Believe me, etc.
His Excellency
(signed) R. L. Craigie.
Mr. Masayuki Tani,
His Imperial Japanese Majesty's
Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs.
